We are looking at implementing dns scavenging but have to resolve this issue first. It looks like the timestamp on the dns entry is the time the server was first built and rebooted. First off shouldnt they be updating now if the default update time for xp is 24 hours, and i have dynamic updating on now. In dns the following was set: -type ad integrated -dynamic updates none (why that was like that who knows) -scavenging is not in use yet i changed dynamic updating to secure and nonsecure since i was not sure how it would affect all the non windows servers currently in there. I can surf to any other website just not anything under my domain. Most of client computers on the domain are xp. > > wondering what the process is, if any. I am running running a brand new 2003 server, domain controller with dhcp & dns server.
I have run through all of the microsoft documents, have tried all of the setup procedures again, but no luck. W2k servers not updating dns stale record time stamp by s0c » sat, 22 mar 2008 03:28:00 gmt it appears that our windows 2000 servers are not updating the stale record time stamp on their dns entries. Incidentally, i have tried updating > it with the ipconfig /registerdns command with the dhcp client service > turned on and off. The dns suffix name is in there, the dns and dhcp services are also all started and running on each client. If i run ipconfig /registerdns from any of the clients. Anyhow, came back two days later, and only a very few number of machines have updated in forward dns represenative of timestamp value changing from static to an actual time. Leave the dhcp client running, make sure the nic/ip properties/advanced/ dns setting for register this interface is checked (still). I hate to have to delete all this suff in forward, because i am not sure which items actually need to be static.
All i could really gather up was that wins is on its way out because dhcp and dns can do the exact same thing. The only way it seems i can get the record in forward to timestamp and shows its dynamic is if i actually delete the entry in dns and then either ipconfig /registerdns or just restart the dhcp service. Can someone, in a very easy to understand method, please explain what wins does exactly in a network enviroment.stacy london clinton kelly dating.. W2k3 servers update their dns timestamp just fine. I have looked all over trying to find a good explanation as to why i would want a wins server dns timestamp not updating. .Adult dating north south carolina.Adult back chat com door free live video zackschats.
